About the Department
The department of chemistry was established in 2004 and located at the ground floor of CV Raman Bhawan of the University. Department runs two programmes: PG and PhD. The PG programme is of two years duration comprising of four semesters. Department offers three specializations in PG programme: Organic, Inorganic and Physical specialization. Department has adopted CBCS from the session 2017-18 and now adopted CBCS-LOCF from session 2021. Department has produced more than 12 PhD's and published over 150 research papers in the National and International journals of repute. 07 books and 02 patents. Department has also completed two major research projects sponsored by UGC, New Delhi and DRDO, New Delhi. Department also provide the facility of Instrumentation laboratory for research scholars which may include Electrochemical Workstation, Trinocular Inverted Metallurgical Microscope, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Ultrasonic Interferometer, Electrophoresis Unit etc.

• To promote basic scientific knowledge and research in the field of Chemistry with an emphasis on the subject and innovations in its field which will act as potential precursor for scientific and technology developments.

• To create human resources in the interest of societal and industrial benefit.
• To create revenue opportunity, industrial placements and specialized knowledge competencies.
• To promote innovative interdisciplinary scientific research programs at UG and PG level.
• To become a globally recognized department in the area of Chemistry and its allied fields.
