About the Department
The Department of Botany was established in 2018 to teach the students of M.Sc. Botany. The department expanded in terms of manpower as well infrastructure. Since its inception, faculty members of the department have been involved in teaching and mentoring students. The department focuses on postgraduate teaching-learning and appropriately combines classical teaching with innovative digital teaching tools to augment students understanding of the subjects.
Vision
The vision of the department is to develop itself as center of excellence in botanical/plant sciences and to provide modern, skill oriented, technical and quality education among students in diverse thrust area’s of botanical/plant sciences which will contribute in the process of social, multidisciplinary and holistic development of the students to transform them as excellent human resource and creative individuals achieving quality standards as global citizens.
Mission
- To inculcate emotional bonding and curiosity towards nature through the living plants.
- To achieve academic excellence in basic and practical aspects of botany.
- To develop teaching and training programmes that has relevance to the society and employability.
- To establish linkage with national and international organizations/agencies for research collaborations.
- To pursue quality research through organization and participation in seminars, symposia, conferences, training programmes, extension lectures etc.
- To promote social participation for better environment and sustainability through community-based programmes involving direct on-site interaction with the stakeholders, filed trips, plantation and environment awareness drives etc.
- To aware local community about native floral diversity.
